The All-Important 'Christmas List'Take toys home for the Summer holidaysOver the Christmas period, many of toys are available to hire for a small fee. It's a great oppotunity to bagses some of big toys to keep little people amused while everyone's at home chilling out. The list is available here and toys can be reserved at the library from Saturday 19/11/2011,
Election Day = No Toy LibrarySaturday 26th November is Election Day so there won't be a Toy Library session (make sure you're enrolled - if you don't vote you can't complain!).
If you've got toys due back on the 26th, you get an extra week of fun! Sweet.
Housekeeping DutiesThe Librarian starts setting up at 8:45 so when you're doings a duty if you could get there a smidge before 9 too it would be muchly appreciated!
AND
Please remember when you sign up to do a duty, make a note in your diary or tie a knot in your hankie or whatever will jog your memory! There have been a few missed duties lately and this incurs a $20 fine and causes those at the library extra stress.
Bouncy Castle hire = Money for Toy Library! The perfect accompaniment to your party: a bouncy castle! Hire this one (pic below) and raise money for the Toy Library! Every time a member hires the bouncy castle, $25 of the $75 hire charge is donated to the toy library. You can find out more details at the library sessions on Thursdays and Saturdays OR contact Lisa directly on 09 446 0244 (lisa@vermillion.co.nz). Desperately Seeking! Do something fab: put up your hand and become a Committee Member! Seriously. After more than three years, President Chris is hanging up his Committee hat. Membership Officer, Annie, is also leaving. We must fill these positions as soon as possible to ensure the future of Play-A-While Toy Library. Chris say it’s time to move on, build garden sheds, colour code clothes wardrobes, cook a decent dinner… That’s theplan, anyway.
Please email president@playawhile.org or speak to the Committee if you would like to fill any of these positions. The committee meets once a month, and around one to two hours of support is required. You’ll find it challenging yet rewarding, you’ll be part of a great team and know that you’re contributing invaluably to your community. Surprise and amaze yourself – join up. Our other Committee Members, Lisa, Heather, Belinda plus librarian Bridget, will be there to help and guide you.

View Toys OnlineYou can view the toys we have available for borrowing using our online catalogue. Annual General MeetingOur AGM was attended by local Takapuna-Devonport Board members Mike Cohen and Chris Darby, the Committee, plus Bridget, our librarian. Read the President’s Report and Treasurer’s and the Audited Accounts on our website. The Committee has worked tirelessly to retain and increase membership in order to meet operational costs. Membership numbers are critical for our survival. Fundraising also needs stepping up and we know we can do it after a sound effort in 2010.It’s an end of an era with President Chris, Secretary Kristin, Treasurer Leigh and Membership Officer Annie all off to do…other stuff. The Toy Library struggled for a while but they – and Committee members Lisa and Heather – dug deep to revitalise Play-A-While. Our utmost thanks to them plus Mike Cohen, Chairman Chris Darby, Dianne Hale, Librarian Bridget, Andy Evans, our loyal members, and a host of others for your support. |
